Hello All,
There is a legitimate excuse for no podcast this week, I have been college visiting all this week, trying to keep up on tech news, however I simply cannot do the podcast this time.
I have compiled a list of stories worth your perusal, but you don't get my audio commentary.
Nokia aiming a tablet at Apple

Oh hot damn! okay, not really, but Nokia does do some really cool things, most of which don't make it to the US in any numerous quantity, however, nonetheless, I think Nokia's Tablet, should they actually go into production will be more full-featured than the iPad (thats not hard). I can see where the Nokia Tablet would scare people more than an iPad, terms of usability, but thats what Apple does to "vertically integrate" the experience (more on that later in this text only podcast). I would look forward to a Maemo device, they really have given up on Symbian. What would really give Apple a run for its money would be a Nokia-Android partnership, since Nokia really has a great hardware program, and history, and Android is a powerful alternative to the iPhone/Pad OS. Arguably a Nokia-Android device would be far better in terms of all aspects of the product than anything Apple can put together, and exert control over.

They took a car, mounted cameras on the back looking forward (the 3rd person view) and displayed that on the windshield for the driver. Needless to say, it didn't work. I imagine that one could get used to the rig, and eventually get rather good at the setup, however, for all you "Modern Warfare" and "Call of Duty" gamers, don't expect to be a military grade sharp shooter.

You crazy iPhoners get iAds, a mobile advertising platform for the device (Adds that you will actually want to click on!), the iBook (Wait, the almighty has put a crappy laptop on a phone?) No, good man, you can now read Apple approved books on your Jesus phone, just like the Church of the Jobs has always intended to let its followers access the world's information. Also, (the main reason I have taken such a sardonic tone) Multitasking! yes, Apple has such a concieted attitude: "we weren't the first to this party, but we're going to be the best." Ok, Apple, whatever you say. All this can be yours, if you are on the iPhone 3GS, not the 3G, nor the original. There was never a company in existence that made its loyal followers follow such a strict upgrade path as Apple. Also, no tethering!, because the almighty doesn't will it.

http://daringfireball.net/2010/04/why_apple_changed_section_331This is basically one story, and is a main part of my beef with Apple, and how they control EVERYTHING. I can't even explain how much this policy of theirs against competition is so awful, yet completely legal. Someone should go after Apple for these policies, yet no one ever does. If you read all the way though both articles, you would (hopefully) come to the idea that what would actually be more fair, and benifit everyone is if Apple buried in the settings menu somewhere an "Allow 3rd Party Apps" setting. Allowing people to develop for all platforms, and Apple to say that these apps aren't "Apple Certified" and may result in decreased performance. By the by, this is me being cooperative to Apple, if I had my way, Apple wouldn't have gotten on the "app" market in the first place, remember, it was the jail breakers that first let you have apps on your iPhone.
